The previous design had accumulated a range of additions and adjustments over the past several years, resulting in a complex, multi-layered navigation that was growing and evolving with the changes the offered programs and services. The refresh provided us with an opportunity to address content bloat, restructure the sitemap in line with updated priorities streamlining the site's navigation. The new navigation crafted supports a clear presentation of who The Family Centre helps, what The Family Centre helps with, and how The Family Centre provides help.
Designed for Different Journeys
Support by Community
Visitors to the site can now access a clearly defined range of community and audience-based pathways, including Individuals & Couples, Children & Youth, Families & Parents, Schools, and more. These entry points are designed to help users quickly locate relevant resources and programs aligned with their identity, role, or community context.
Areas of Support
Similarly, some visitors arrive not through a group or identity-based pathway, but with a focus on addressing specific challenges they are experiencing. For these users, the site provides clear entry points into services and supports organized by topic, such as Depression, Anger, Relationships, and more.
Different Paths, Shared Support
Reducing navigation barriers without introducing additional complexity was a key focus of the new sitemap and navigation design. To support this direction, feature call-to-action highlights were introduced within the navigation menu. These highlights helped us to enable cross-linking across key areas of the site to ensure users can move fluidly between relevant pathways regardless of where they begin their journey.
